Plans for expansion

I have a website with my name, but I don’t know what to do with it. I’ve been thinking it over for a while, but this post is my attempt to write down some of those thoughts and create an agenda for myself.

I want to put up job relevant information, but I’m not currently on the job market (I don’t have any plans on leaving my current position either), so the motivation isn’t there. There also isn’t a lot of interesting stuff to say since I just graduated college.

I want to have a page with a general summary about myself that links to the different sets of content I have on my website.

I want to put up any programming or modding projects I have going on. I currently have a job as a software engineer so after a full day of coding, I find it hard to come home and start coding again. As a result, the number of current projects I have is zero. Most of my forays into coding in the past mostly involved tweaking other people’s things, so I don’t really have much to show.

I want to change that ‘lack of projects’ thing though. I starting programming a lot later than most people and I feel like I have a lot of catching up to do. I kind of want to put up some of the discussions I’ve had on reddit, but I don’t want anyone to go over my account with a fine tooth comb. I generally wrote posts on reddit as if I had anonymity, and I still do to some extent. My reddit account isn’t linked to my name and only people I trust know my username. I’m going to not add this to my ‘to do’ list for the website for now, but I might change my mind in the future.

I want to start writing posts about my other assorted activities. I don’t know if anyone outside my family or close friends will find these interesting at all, but I think this section would be more for myself. I barely remember much of what has happened in the last year, and I want to get a lot better at documenting the things I have done.

I also want to keep some kind of gaming journal. I’ve played many games, and I enjoy writing and talking about them. At a minimum it should be practice for writing about my thoughts more. If this comes naturally I might just start cross posting some of my stuff to reddit.

I might think of more things to add later, but I’ve got my work cut out for me right now:

  1. CV page
  2. General Page
  3. Programming project page
  4. Journalish posts about my life
  5. Gaming log
